Call for Paper Submissions

Special Issue: Alcohol and other Drugs Abuse: Prevention and Research

The International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction invites submission papers for a special edition on Prevention and Research on Alcohol and other Drugs Abuse.

Many countries around the world have seen in recent years an increase of the use of alcohol and other substances among minors; the use of marihuana has grown in adolescents and adults in most countries, opiates became an epidemic in the US and East Europe, and amphetamines are a serious problem in Asia.

At the same time, there has been a notorious improvement in prevention strategies, programs and systems, thanks to the development of more refined research tools; international policies promoted by UNODC, NIDA, WHO, EMCDDA, among others, converge around concepts related to public health and human rights; and there is a permanent quest for evaluating all prevention activities. These are the foundations of prevention science.

The goal of this special issue is to gather in one-peer reviewed issue a range of articles that: 1) present findings of the evaluations of prevention programs/systems; 2) analyze innovative methodologies, both quantitative and qualitative, and alternative research designs; 3) examine the theoretical approaches on which prevention activities are supported.
The following submissions are highly encouraged:

(i) Original research papers
(ii) Narrative, scoping, or systemic reviews
(iii) Theoretical, methodological, and policy analysis papers
(iv) Structured critical reflections

For inquiries on the special issue, please contact guest editors.
