The HCC is seeking a Communications and Advocacy Officer (CAO). The CAO must be an experienced, creative and self-motivated individual with a strong advocacy and communications background and a sound understanding of the regional and national political processes, actors and strategies that impact policy/legislation development and implementation.
The successful candidate should have proven ability to develop and work in partnership with multiple stakeholders and experience in dealing with senior government officers and political leadership. Under the technical oversight and supervision of the HCC Executive Director (ED), the CAO will primarily be responsible for the implementation of a regional obesity prevention project which targets the CARICOM Community with a focus on Barbados and Jamaica.
The HCC project has four specific objectives:raising public awareness through a regional childhood obesity prevention electronic petition; working with policymakers nationally and regionally; strengthening national and regional coalitions; and countering industry opposition. This is a full-time, 11-month position, based in Barbados.
